9.2.2 USB and Driver Issues
Once your TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 is connected and turned on, wait a few seconds and give a
look at the USB indicator located in the Master Display, in the middle of your device:

If the USB indicator is flashing, there is no connection to the computer or there is a problem
with the driver. Please check the following points:
▪ The TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 is a USB 2.0 device and will not work on a USB 1.0/1.1
port.
▪ A bad USB cable can be responsible for connectivity problems. Try using a different cable
bearing the official USB logo, in some cases using a shorter cable might help.
▪ Check that the driver is correctly installed. You can do this for example by looking for the
TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 Control Panel (see ↑8.2.1, Opening the Control Panel for more
info). If you cannot find the Control Panel, the driver is most likely not installed at all. In
this case, please re-install the driver from the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 installation disc as
described in the separate Setup Guide.
Driver Installation Note in Windows
As any other USB device, the driver installs exactly for one USB port. If you connect the TRAK-
TOR KONTROL S4 to another port, a standard Windows dialog opens in which you can install
the driver to that port.
▪ If you have previously installed the driver on your computer once, Windows will find the
right drivers itself.
▪ If you did not install the drivers on your computer, Windows will install the wrong drivers.
Please disconnect the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 and follow the installation procedure de-
scribed in the separate Setup Guide.
